According to the standards, emergency eye/face washes have to provide a minimum of 11.4 l of uninterrupted potable water per minute for 15 minutes, and the required water flow is met by connecting to mains supply.

The water temperature should be kept constant between 16-38 °C according to the requirements of the standard. If potable water supplied from mains water supply is not sufficient to meet this temperature range, thermostatic mixing valves can be included in the system, which ensures that the ideal temperature is obtained by mixing the water coming from the hot and cold water sources feeding the mains supply.
